Cloud providers

Ferment uses the providers below to run its cloud AI features. The data shared depends on the feature you use or enable. This page explains who receives it and why.

Fireworks and xAI

Used for: AI assistance, translation, prompt enhancement, and smart reminders.

Data shared: Your prompts, conversation history, attachments, and captions, together with relevant context such as your name, language, time zone, saved memories, project summaries, and recent activity.

Cloud dictation with xAI

Used for: Turning speech into text.

Data shared: Microphone audio while cloud dictation is active.

WaveSpeedAI

Used for: Generating and editing media.

Data shared: Prompts and the photos, video, or audio you select for the operation.

Cartesia

Used for: Generating speech, cloning voices, and managing your saved voices.

Data shared: Text for generated speech, voice samples you choose for cloning, language, and an account reference for managing your voices. Voice cloning also requires the separate voice consent.

Tavily

Used for: Searching and reading the web for the assistant.

Data shared: Search queries and web addresses used for those requests.

Your choices

The mobile app asks for your permission before sending data to these cloud AI providers. You can turn off Cloud AI in Settings at any time. Editing on your device remains available.
